USB 协议规定了 PC 与 USB 设备之间的最大连接距离为 5 米。通过 USB 集线器，可以将此距离再延长 5 米。在机械和设备制造中，必须跨接更长的距离，而无需每 5 米就插入一个 USB 集线器。CU8801-0000 USB 延长器通过 Cat.5 电缆将 USB 2.0 信号发送至 CU8851 USB Extended 接收器，它们之间的距离最长可达 50 米，然后，接收器再将信号还原成 USB 信号。数据传输率最高为 480 Mbit/s。这两个 USB 延长器专为安装在 DIN 导轨上而设计。CU8801-0000 发送器由 PC 供电。CU8851 接收器由一个集成的 24 V DC 电源模块供电。CP29xx 和 CP39xx 系列控制面板中已经集成了 USB Extended 2.0 接收器。
