EL6071/EL6072: New EtherCAT license key terminals for TwinCAT
The hardware license keys are tamper-proof, individual identities for cryptographically binding licenses for using Beckhoff software or activating machine features. The new EL6071 and EL6072 EtherCAT Terminals can now provide an extended service life and offer even more security, including updated cryptographic algorithms and variants with a tamper-proof real-time clock.
In addition to enabling software or machine features, the EL607x EtherCAT Terminals bind the licenses to the machine hardware in such a way that they can even continue to be used while a control CPU is replaced. Updated cryptographic algorithms are used with the 2nd generation of TwinCAT license keys. In addition, the tamper-proof function update option for direct use in the field provides the optimal basis for high cryptographic agility. The EL6072 EtherCAT Terminal also has a battery-buffered, tamper-proof real-time clock (RTC function) which can be used to securely limit the licensing period – e.g. within the scope of leasing contracts. The protection can be updated in the field via simple function updates, and this, along with tamper-proof resetting of the time and date, enables the usage period to be extended, thus reducing costs.
Alternatively, the C9900-L101 (without RTC) or -L102 (with RTC) license key USB sticks with identical functions are available. They can be used to activate the software licenses of the corresponding Beckhoff products or machine properties on the machine controller. The four new Beckhoff license key products are delivered without TwinCAT licenses, but can also be ordered pre-installed with application-specific licenses.
